Congratulations Jenny!
Jenny Semmler, co-proprietor of 919 Wines, has won the Owner/Operator of the Year category in the 2016 Women in Wine Awards run by the Fabulous Ladies’ Wine Society. These awards seek to acknowledge the achievements of women in the wine industry.
“I wasn't going to enter, however when I was nominated I thought I should try and live up to my nominator's faith in me. I was pretty chuffed to be named a finalist, and happy to stand with the likes of Eliza Brown of all Saints, Sarah Collingwood of Four Winds and and Kim Tyrer of Gaffney. To have won the category is a great honour, and a tiny bit overwhelming."
Kate Strachan, also from the Riverland, was a finalist in the Viticulturalist of the Year category.
Other categories include Winemaker, Viticulturalist, Researcher, Cellar Door Person of the Year, and Workplace Champion of Change, the only category open to both women and men.
