We are excited to announce that 919 Wines has taken out the award for Fortified Wine of the Year from Winestate Magazine. Our winemaker, Eric Semmler, was named runner up Winemaker of the Year.
919 Wines Classic Muscat was named Fortified Wine of the Year from five finalists, including 919 Classic Topaque and three others. Winestate Magazine assesses over 10,000 wines a year before selecting the award from five finalists.
“This award is an amazing and unexpected result for 919 Wines and reinforces our reputation as one of Australia’s best fortified wine producers. Sustainable organic viticultural practices, together with experienced and respectful winemaking practices has lead to this outstanding result ”, said winemaker Eric Semmler. “This award contributes to the Riverland’s standing as a region to watch for exciting high quality wines. For 919 Wines, it continues to build our brand and reinforces our reputation as an established regional leader with exceptional quality products.
This outstanding result would not be possible without a solid and passionate team behind us. I would also like to acknowledge Winestate Magazine, who continue to be an important forum for assessing Australian and international wines for stylistic excellence.”
919 Wines has won a number of awards in the past, including the Adelaide Review Wine of the Year, the Alternative Varieties Wine Show Organic Wine of the Year and the Winestate Organic Wine of the Year.
